WatchOS 10 is the most recent Apple Watch operating system. WatchOS 10, launched at WWDC in June 2023, will be released to the public in September alongside new Apple Watch models.

The watchOS 10 upgrade redesigns the Apple Watch interface, focusing on widgets to provide more information at a glance. There are also app redesigns, redesigned watch faces, additional fitness tools, and more.
The Smart Stack, which includes a collection of widgets that present the information you need most, is new in watchOS 10. The Apple Watch learns which apps you use and when allowing you to customize what you see.
For example, at the start of the day, you might see the daily weather, followed by your first event. Smart Stack is accessible with a turn of the Digital Crown, and you may navigate through the various widgets.
Apple aims for Smart Stack to be used with more straightforward watch faces with less complexity. Many apps have been completely redesigned with a shorter, information-focused design. Weather, for example, displays the current temperature and weather conditions, with a simple scroll delivering an hourly prediction so you don’t have to tap to receive more information.
Apps such as Home, Maps, Messages, World Clock, Activity, and Stocks now have a more readable look. Apple is making the new design language available to third-party app developers.

Palette and Snoopy are two new watch faces. The time is displayed in various colours on the palette, which has three overlapping layers with varying hues, and the Snoopy face incorporates characters from the classic Peanuts cartoon.
Apple is introducing enhanced stats, perspectives, and experiences for bikers. Cycling exercises appear on iPhone as a Live Activity, displaying a full-screen view of statistics such as Heart Rate Zones, Elevation, Race Route, and Cycling Speed. This view benefits iPhone users who mount their devices to their bicycles.
The Apple Watch can now link to Bluetooth-enabled cycling equipment to monitor power and cadence, and it now supports Workout Views such as Power Zones. The Apple Watch can estimate Functional Threshold Power or the highest amount of cycling intensity that a cyclist might theoretically maintain for an hour, using new algorithms that aggregate data from connected sensors.
For hikers, the Compass app has a Last Cellular Connection Waypoint option that estimates the last location where you had cellular reception, which helps you retrace to an area with service to check messages or make a call. Last Emergency Call Waypoint calculates the location of your device’s previous connection to a carrier network for an emergency call.
The Compass app’s new Elevation display uses altimeter data to provide a three-dimensional picture of saved waypoints. The Apple Watch can display a topographic map with contour lines, hill shading, elevation information, and points of interest in Apple Maps in the United States. Users can use data such as path length, type, and difficulty to find nearby trails and trailheads.

Apple added a function for monitoring moods and emotions to the Mindfulness app to provide an overview of mental health and assist users in assessing how breathing exercises, workouts, and sleep affect mood. The Health app displays data acquired by the Apple Watch. With the new crucial reminders function, the Medications app can send follow-up reminders if a medicine is not logged 30 minutes after its scheduled time.
For children with an Apple Watch, the ambient light sensor may track time spent in daylight to guarantee that kids spend at least 80 to 120 minutes outdoors, lowering the risk of myopia or nearsightedness.
NameDrop, a new SharePlay feature, allows you to share your contact information with someone just by holding the Apple Watch near their iPhone. The Share option in the Contacts app allows for Apple Watch to Apple Watch communication.

Apple introduced Offline Maps to the iPhone, and the offline maps may be accessed on an iPhone connected to an Apple Watch. FaceTime audio calls for groups are now enabled on Apple Watch, as is FaceTime video messaging.
If you have Apple Fitness+, you can use Custom Plans to create a custom workout or meditation schedule based on day, duration, and workout type. There is also a Stacks option for selecting multiple activities to do and an Audio Focus mode that prioritizes the volume of the music or the trainers’ voices.

New APIs for detecting quick velocity and acceleration, such as when swinging a golf club or tennis racket, are available for developers to implement into programs. Custom workouts may be created by developers and imported into the Workout app, and there are APIs for obtaining cycling speed, cadence, and power metrics.
WatchOS 10 is now available to registered developers, with Apple planning to release a public beta in July. An official release date will be announced in September.
