On Tuesday, Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter Inc, announced that the company would add voice calls and encrypted messages.
Musk announced “Twitter 2.0 The Everything App” ideas last year, saying it would have encrypted DMs, long-form tweets, and payments.
Musk said in a tweet on Tuesday-
“Coming soon will be voice and video chat from your handle to anyone on this platform, so you can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving them your phone number.”
With the addition of calls, Twitter will be on par with other social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram, developed by Meta.

Musk has said that beginning on Wednesday, Twitter will offer an encrypted version of direct messaging; he has not commented on whether or not calls will also be encrypted.
