Here, we’ll review all the information we have thus far about the Phone 2, including the rumours. We will also review some information that may be gleaned not from words but from the brief history of Nothing, the Phone 1, and quotes from Carl Pei.
When Will Nothing Phone 2 Be Available, and How Much Will It Cost?
The official release date of Nothing Phone 2 is 11 a.m. ET on July 11, 2023. With improved hardware, the Nothing Phone 2 is expected to cost more than its predecessor. There has been no announcement that the Phone 2 will be released in the US. The successor to Carl Pei’s Phone 1, known as the Phone 2, has been confirmed.

A tweet from December 2022 by Pei was the first place we saw this. Unfortunately, that tweet’s primary goal was dispelling rumours that a new Phone 2 was coming. According to Pei, Phone 1 is still the flagship product for the company.
Phone (2) isn’t launching anytime soon. We’re focused on doing a few things well, and won’t churn out dozens of products a year like many others.
Phone (1) is our main focus. We’re cooking something really great in terms of software, Android 13 and beyond.

On January 30, however, Pei affirmed that the Phone 2 would be released in 2023. A few months later, Pei said that July 2023 would mark the release of the Nothing Phone 2. The launch is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET on July 11, 2023, as confirmed by Pei in June. Launch coverage will not be available online.
We anticipate that the Nothing Phone 2 will cost more than its predecessor. The proven spec bumps (read on for more) prove this true. However, there is talk that the price could be far more. The 256GB version of the Phone 2 may cost €729 ($802).
The cheapest Phone 1 in that country is only €469 ($516). It’s worth noting that Carl Pei tweeted directly in response to this disclosure, asking, “Who leaked this?” Given Pei’s propensity for understated marketing, the “leaked” price may be an intentional hoax to make us pleased when Nothing confirms later that the Nothing Phone 2 will be considerably cheaper. After all, these are the sorts of games Pei likes to play.
Yogesh Brar, citing other price leaks, says the phone might cost anywhere from Rs. 42,000 to Rs. 43,000. That’s almost $520 in today’s currency. That’s much more than the Nothing Phone 1 costs ($423), at Rs. 34,999.

The phone is expected to be released in the same markets as the first iPhone. The United Kingdom, Ireland, nearly all of Europe, India, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
We also know that the United States, which did not receive the Phone 1 officially, will be among the first to receive the Nothing Phone 2. Although it is unknown whether or not the company has secured carrier partnerships, the phone will be available for purchase unlocked and with support for bands throughout the United States.

Nothing Phone (2) hardware and software
Before confirming the release date, the company stated that the Phone (2) would use the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, a significant upgrade from the Phone’s predecessor, which was powered by the mid-range Snapdragon 778G+ CPU.
Like the first Phone, the second iteration is rumoured to come in different storage configurations, the most basic of which would feature 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. Kamila Wojciechowska reports that the primary sensor on the Phone (2) will get an upgrade and feature the Sony IMX890 sensor, the same as the primary sensor on the OnePlus 11. This is in contrast to the Nothing Phone (2), which is reported to include a 50 MP dual camera configuration. The front-facing camera on the second iteration of the Phone will be capable of 32 megapixels and will use a Sony IMX615 sensor.
The Phone 2’s 6.7-inch screen will have a resolution of 1080 x 2412 with a refresh rate of up to 120 hertz, and the device is rumoured to incorporate a Goodix optical in-display fingerprint reader.
The first Phone had a 4,500 mAh battery, but the second is said to have a slightly larger 4,700 mAh battery with the capability for fast wired charging; also, a Type-C data cable with see-through ends will be included free of charge with every Phone 2.
The new NothingOS (2), based on Android 13 OS, is rumoured to be preinstalled on the Phone (2). A contemporary Glyph composer, enabling users to create ringtones using the Glyph lighting, will also be included with the phone.
