One of the many advantages of utilizing Apple products is that you can unlock your Mac with your Apple Watch. Apple users could automatically unlock their phones by having their Apple Watch on their wrists for some time now.
However, macOS offers the same capabilities. It’s embarrassing to admit that I had no idea this was possible after owning an Apple Watch for the better two years. You’ll need an iPhone to set up your Apple Watch, and one of the steps involves choosing whether or not to use your wristwatch to unlock your phone.
While your Apple Watch may already be set up to unlock your iPhone, you will still need to configure it to operate with your Mac. This feature is buried deep within macOS’s settings, so it’s easy to overlook if you don’t know you’re looking for it.
The good news is that enabling your Apple Watch to serve as a password for your Mac is a breeze. Furthermore, with this option activated, you can unlock applications while using your Mac, which speeds up general usage and makes it faster to log in.
Without further ado, here’s the process for unlocking a Mac with an Apple Watch.

Your Mac is where you’ll complete the feature’s configuration. The Apple Watch, however, must be previously configured and registered into the same iCloud account as the Mac. Before we begin, please verify that you are correctly logged in.
