Due to the Super Bowl, The Last Of Us’ return to HBO was delayed longer than normal on Sunday. The following contains a few spoilers if you haven’t watched episode six and haven’t played the original game and its DLC. That’s because, as the episode’s title suggests, the next installment of the adaptation will concentrate on the Left Behind DLC from Part 1.
As per customary, HBO has provided fans with a preview of the programme that will air the following week. Riley, a character unfamiliar to those who haven’t played the Left Behind DLC, is prominently featured. The Expansion and its adaption both appear to take place before the events of the main game.
Joel’s past before the primary plot of the show was covered in detail in episode one, but not much is known about Ellie’s life before meeting Joel. The clip depicts Riley and Ellie spending the night at a deserted mall after Riley attends FEDRA school. Of course, there’s a reason the mall is closed, and as the trailer’s ending strongly suggests, things will eventually get worse.
Ellie’s past was not revealed until after the events of the base game had taken place because Left Behind was initially DLC that debuted more than six months after the game. The remaining two episodes will run after Left Behind, likely concluding in the same position as Part 1, allowing for Last of Us Part 2‘s story to be told in a second season of the adaptation, but it is to be expected that the show will be slightly different.

The Last of Us’ most tragic scenes have already been expertly recounted by the show, but if a particular fan rumour about the upcoming episode is true, the worst may still be to come. After saving his life in episode four, Ellie confesses to Joel that she has shot someone before.
Several people have claimed Ellie is compelled to kill Riley even though it is never explicitly stated in the game. In the movie Left Behind, the infected bite Riley and Ellie receive reveals Ellie’s immunity. Riley is not immune, and even though her death is acknowledged, it is never depicted.
