Tarnished can rest and recover in The Roundtable Hold without worrying about being assaulted by trolls, Death Birds, or other Tarnished (except for two separate occasions). The Two Fingers live there as well, giving the player crucial advice on their journey to become the Elden Lord.
What exactly is the Roundtable Hold, though? It is completely unreachable from anywhere in the Lands Between, and the player may only go there via quick travel after accepting Melina’s invitation.
It’s obvious that there are other Tarnished in this area, but it’s not evident how any of them have free reign to come and go. Even where they depart is unknown to us.
It makes sense that someone would inquire about the Roundtable Hold on the Elden Ring subreddit given the abundance of unsolved questions.
Although no one can be certain, user Kurenai Jack gives a fantastic account of how the Elden Ring community explains the peculiarity of the Roundtable Hold. If you haven’t finished the game yet, there are a few minor spoilers ahead.
According to Kurenai Jack, “It’s probably a reminder of the Fortified Manor hewn into the Erdtree, like the reminders of the bosses.” “That is why it burns when the Erdtree is burned.”
The Fortified Manor in Leyndell, which resembles the Roundtable Hold suspiciously, can be seen by keen-eyed Tarnished. When the Golden Order was at its height, the Dragon Knights met at the Fortified Manor. The Fortified Manor is deserted now that the Knights have been disbanded, save for a red summons sign that allows you to enter Vargram the Raging Wolf and Errant Sorcerer Wilhelm’s realm.
The majority of the people who live in Roundtable Hold are transients, but Hewg claims that forces beyond his control have made him a part of the community.
Kurenai Jack hypothesizes that the Erdtree, a long-dead prisoner who we only encounter because he fails to provide Marika a weapon that can kill a deity, is likewise represented by the Hewg. It would explain both the loss of Hewg’s memory during the Erdtree’s fire and the discovery of Hewg’s hammer at the Fortified Manor.
