Sonic Fans Have Just Become Aware That Darkspine Sonic Is Missing His Shoes: Darkspine Sonic from Sonic and the Secret Rings doesn’t have any shoes on, giving us a rare glimpse at Sonic without his red shoes, which some Sonic fans (it’s me, I’m the fan) are just now noticing.
One aspect of the Blue Blur that you seldom ever see unless you’re well-versed in the Sonic universe is his feet. There is a clear effort to keep Sonic securely set in his distinctive red shoes, with only a few occasions on record where he or his buddies have been depicted barefoot, whether it’s in the mainstream games, the spin-off TV shows, or the movies.

But as it turns out, Darkspine Sonic is one example that has been standing right in front of us the entire time. For those who are blissfully ignorant, Sonic transforms into Darkspine Sonic near the conclusion of Sonic and the Secret Rings. Sonic not only undergoes a drastic transformation, but his voice also perilously approaches revealing what the Werehog was intended to sound like.
Sonic’s fur turns purple, his eyes change white, and his legs and arms acquire some swanky golden rings, as noted by Redditor LionistheMan, but his shoes also vanish and his feet get a fuzzy makeover. I guarantee you that writing that statement as well as reading it wounded me equally.
Because he appears to have no toes and instead looks like he’s wearing a pair of furry clogs, it’s likely that many Sonic fans have never noticed this. They also probably aren’t constantly looking at his feet. Despite not having feet, it appears like Sonic’s shoes have been taken off because the change also takes his gloves off.
