Today’s Nintendo Direct features a new title from Level-5 that puts a distinctive spin on a well-known genre. DecaPolice combines the turn-based fighting of a traditional RPG with the investigative difficulties of a legal drama.
As the head detective of a special investigative team of DecaPolice, you have access to a secret tool called Decasim, a virtual environment that is a “perfect replica of reality.” Instead of having to deal with the chaos of a real crime scene, you can investigate the crime while lounging in a stasis pod, inspecting the area from every angle using tools we can only imagine.
Put evidence in your case file, choose a partner from your top squad, and use tactical operations to identify the offender. After that, proceed to the actual world to find them and detain them.
Expect a variety of adversaries, including mustachioed guys in top hats with robot sidekicks and enigmatic hackers working for a huge corporation who can hack the Decasim and convert the normally blonde heroine into a patchwork cat plush. When you’re charged with finding an elaborate robot that eats gems, things only get stranger.
Characters can launch special attacks, such as the blonde investigator firing a powerful energy blast from a glowing digital bow, and combat appears to be turn-based.
Later this year, DecaPolice will be available for the Nintendo Switch.
