Following the shadow release of a Metroid Prime remakes only a few weeks ago, Nintendo has now revealed that Metroid Fusion will be available via the Nintendo Switch Online service. On March 9, Metroid Fusion will be made accessible via the Nintendo Switch Online, however, keep in mind that Game Boy Advance games require the Expansion Pack upgrade.
If you haven’t played Metroid Fusion yet or weren’t old enough to play it when it first came out, it’s a lot like the original Metroid game with a small twist. You can still explore the branching hallways and futuristic settings, but you’ll also periodically have to contend with SA-X, a mutated suit of Samus Aran’s armor that follows you around the whole game.
Nintendo Revealed A Roster Of Games Last Month
During the Nintendo Direct last month, Nintendo revealed a roster of games for the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance that will be playable via this service, but Metroid Fusion wasn’t among them. But along with games like Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Fire Emblem, F-Zero Maximum Velocity, and Golden Sun, it was included among the upcoming releases.
Although Nintendo has said there isn’t a schedule in place, it’s safe to assume we’ll see new GBA games published every few weeks or so given the timeframe between the Direct and the launch of Metroid Fusion.
The tweet below shows the official announcement:
The SA-X, an unstoppable X mimicking Samus, is on the loose, and it could be just around the corner…

The Pokemon games are one series of video games that Nintendo enthusiasts are still keeping their fingers crossed for. Fans are anticipating that the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance versions of Red, Silver, and Emerald—some of the best in the series—will soon be added after a caution regarding Pokemon Stadium trades was removed. But now that Pokémon Day has passed, it seems incredibly unlikely. Possibly someday.
