Players in Fortnite have noticed that Epic has added lens flare to sniper rifles, which makes it easier for other players to see you when you’re looking at them through a scope.
You are one of the last ten players in a Fortnite match. You have some gold weapons and enough healing items to get you through a fight. You’re pretty sure you’ll get that sweet, sweet Victory Royale. Then, out of nowhere, a sniper camping far away on the map shoots you in the head. We’ve all been there at least once and felt that unending anger, but the latest update to Fortnite seems to be trying to make things a little less frustrating.
Snipers Are Becoming Interesting In Fortnite
Redditor Jdavi 24 noticed and posted on the Fortnite subreddit that the latest update to the game made a pretty big change to sniper rifles: when they’re pointed down, they now have a lens flare effect. This means that if another player is using a sniper and aiming at you,
The post below shows that you should now see a little flash that tells you you’re in the line of fire;
In more realistic games like Call of Duty and Battlefield, snipers usually do this, so it’s interesting to see it finally make its way to Fortnite. Having that extra bit of warning that something is about to happen should make it harder for snipers to wipe out matches so easily, especially since some rifles can kill with one shot, but I’m sure I’ll still get popped in the head with ease.
Even though this is a pretty big change for snipers, it’s interesting that Epic doesn’t seem to have mentioned the new feature anywhere in the Mega update’s patch notes. Epic’s season wrap-up for Fortnite doesn’t say anything about it, and there hasn’t been anything on Twitter to let people know about the change, either.
