Former Marvel Avengers Creative Director Apologizes For the Game and blamed a “difficult production” for its shortcomings.
In an interview with Edge Magazine (via GamesRadar), Cezar expressed regret for the choice to halt work on Marvel’s Avengers just over two years after it had first been released, though he didn’t go into great depth about the issues that had caused it.
According to Virtosu, “That was a hard production, to put it mildly.” “I’m sorry about that,”
The Lords of the Fallen, a remake of the 2014 title Lords of the Fallen, received its debut gameplay trailer at The Game Awards in 2022 after Virtosu left Crystal Dynamics for Hexworks in 2020. There is no release date or window yet, but the game will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Marvel’s Avengers Is No Longer In Active Development Of The Game
Marvel’s Avengers is no longer in active development, and support will terminate on September 30—the same day that digital purchases of the game will no longer be possible.
The Winter Soldier and the Omega-Level Threat from the Cloning Lab were included in Update 2.7, which was the last content update for Marvel’s Avengers. It was also announced that Spider-Man will continue to be a PlayStation-only game.

Version 2.8 will debut on March 31, however it will only be a balance update. The cosmetics market will shut down on March 31 and credits won’t be used after that date. All cosmetics will be made freely available to all players and any leftover credits will be converted to in-game resources.

In our review of Marvel’s Avengers, we stated that while the superhero campaign is entertaining and adorable, it is connected to a loot-based post-game that is tedious and unsatisfying, which left me with little want to play further.

Final lines: Hopefully, Marvel’s next games, such as Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine from Insomniac, and the planned World War 2-era Paris-set game from Amy Hennig and Skydance New Media with Captain America and Black Panther, do better.
