Players of EVE Online have been rallying together to help the victims of the recent earthquake in Syria and Turkey. There is now a community-wide effort to collect in-game currency donations for distribution to needy individuals.
PLEX is one of two in-game currencies; it is the premium option and can be purchased with either real-world money or the other in-game currency, ISK. As well as ships and other things, PLEX can buy almost anything in EVE Online.
Players of CCP’s EVE Online have begun pledging their PLEX to a relief fund in the wake of the recent earthquake in Japan. This money will go towards helping those affected by the disaster. Fans of the MMORPG EVE Online have shown their enthusiasm in droves.
For nearly 20 years, CCP has been running the PLEX for Good campaign, appealing to players to donate to relief efforts following natural disasters like hurricanes and earthquakes in places like Haiti and Japan. Together, PLEX for Good’s donors has contributed more than $1.2 million.
Donations of PLEX in EVE Online can be made to a designated NPC, with CCP distributing the funds to the non-profit organization’s Doctors Without Borders and Ahbap in real life. Currently, CCP expects to maintain the program through February 21, 2023.
In the wake of the devastating earthquake that hit Syria and Turkey, the EVE Online community rallied together in an outpouring of compassion and support for the victims. On February 6, 2023, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit the region. Hundreds of buildings fell, power was cut off in large areas, and many lives were lost due to the calamity. More than 27,600 people have been killed, over 87,500 have been injured, and countless more have been displaced.
