There are many terrifying creatures in Elden Ring that are eager to rip you apart limb from limb for simply staring in their general direction, but few are as intimidating or annoying as the ordinary Troll.
When you’re just wandering around Limgrave, they’re not too bothersome, but as you get to the Mountaintop of the Giants, they start to cause issues. Everyone probably has a different approach to dealing with them, but I’m willing to wager that it’s not nearly as successful as HoldMySoda’s.
HoldMySoda generously provides their approach to getting rid of these bothersome trolls from your hair, which doesn’t actually involve murdering them.
This method was first uploaded to the Elden Ring community. Instead, they demonstrate that a Troll has a very low sleep resistance and can be put to sleep with just one hit from St. Trina’s Torch. To illustrate, HoldMySoda posted a video in which they just approach a Troll, touch it on the leg, and then leave while the huge drowsy galoot falls to the ground.
You must travel to the Consecrated Snowfield region of the map if you want this torch for yourself to send any Trolls you encounter to bed early.
Once there, you can locate it in a carriage either immediately to the northeast of the Consecrated Snowfield place of grace or to the southeast of the region. The best part is that you can carry it around in a spare slot as your only tool for snoozing Trolls because it isn’t heavy or require you to have outrageous stats to use it.
Please keep in mind that only trolls will be affected by this, so avoid hitting any knights or dragons in the hopes that they will collapse.
Another user by the name of davesaninja suggests using the Sword of St. Trina instead, which has the same result, if you prefer a more brutal approach to dealing with them. Guys, give the trolls a break. If you had to endure standing in the chilly weather with your intestines hanging out, you’d be irritable as well.
