Digital Images Show The Incredible Size Difference Between Prehistoric Animals And Today’s Descendants: Roman Uchytel, a paleoartist, has created a gallery of size-comparison images that highlight the radical evolutionary journey that modern animals have undergone when compared to their long-extinct ancestors. These images can be found on the paleoartist’s website here.
The similarities emerged as a result of Uchytel’s efforts to “bring ancient creatures to life” by combining his knowledge of animal anatomy with his artistic abilities. Uchitel spent much of his childhood in the vicinity of zoos, sketching animals. According to My Modern Met, the collection may be viewed in its entirety on the artist’s website, which is titled Prehistoric Fauna.

We came up with this idea together with Alexandra Uchytel, who is both my wife and my business partner. We wanted our children to be able to see what the ancestors (or relatives) of the animals that they see at the zoo looked like.
“We came up with this idea together with Alexandra Uchytel, who is both my wife and my business partner “Uchytel provided an explanation to IGN. “In addition, I’ve been considering how all of these different animals could coexist. Everyone compares extinct animals to humans, but nobody compares them to living animals that are still around today (their descendants).
Uchytel opted not to concentrate on dinosaurs and instead chose to investigate the ancestors of modern animals that date back millions of years to a variety of other prehistoric eras. This exploration covered a wide range of prehistoric eras. The paleoartist has created size comparisons for a wide variety of animals, ranging from the enormous blue whale to the lowly Virginia opossum. These comparisons can be found on his website.

“I have been collaborating with museums and scientists from all over the world for a considerable amount of time now. These wonderful people have been kind enough to supply me with scientific descriptions, photographs of skeletons, and other essential information “elucidated the creator of the work. “Although there are many instances in which I am required to rely on my own uniquely specialized biological knowledge and art education.”
The images highlight the dramatic evolutionary changes that have taken place in the animal kingdom over the course of millions of years, while also showcasing incredible specimens from the distant past, such as the Megalodon shark, which was a fearsome ancestor to the great white shark that we know and recognize today.
Be sure to check out the science page on IGN if you want to learn more about the megalodon and how scientists decoded the secrets of an ecosystem that was two million years old using DNA from ancient organisms.
