Cavill And Gadot’s The Flash Cameos Cut For Gunn’s DC: Although it has already been made clear that Henry Cavill will no longer serve as Superman in the DC Universe created by James Gunn and Peter Safran, it has now been claimed that cameo appearances by Cavill and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman in The Flash have been eliminated to make room for the studio’s new strategy.
These decisions, according to THR, show that Gunn and Safran won’t be content to merely dabble with the DCEU’s existing parts; rather, they’ll be making a significant change as they guide this enormous ship into uncharted waters.
Cavill’s departure and the choice to forgo Patty Jenkins’ most recent concept for Wonder Woman 3 have already caused ripples in other projects like The Flash.
The end of Cavill’s run as Superman was the “clearest indicator yet that Gunn and Safran are attempting a big remake of DC, a reboot that will remove considerable, if not most, links to the past regimes that handled DC pictures for Warner Bros.,” according to THR.
“Cavill also filmed a cameo in The Flash, one of four DC films scheduled for release in 2023, but insiders suggest the cameo, along with that of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, is now being removed given that the studio decided not to proceed with filmmaker Patty Jenkins’ version of Wonder Woman 3.
Sources claim that despite Cavill’s cameo appearance in Black Adam and his announcement that he will once more don the iconic cape, he “did not have a deal in place to return as Superman, merely a verbal agreement that the studio would produce future projects.”
However, Gunn and Safran met with Cavill to discuss a potential new role “down the road,” suggesting that the actor’s time in the DC universe may not be completely finished.
