Sons of the Forest has quickly risen to the sixth position in Steam’s most-played games after selling over 24 million copies in just one day. Obviously, the game’s slow base building and survival elements are really enjoyable, but one player isn’t content with simply lounging around and erecting a small log hut.
Instead, they set out to complete the game as rapidly as they could, and they appear to have succeeded in doing so, setting a speedrun record of 7 minutes, and 38 seconds.
A YouTuber by the name of OkiaBetter has uploaded their world record run to their channel, which involves all kinds of glitches and tricks to finish the game in the same amount of time it takes the majority of players to choose a good spot for their base.
How Did He Win In 8 Minutes?
This information was first reported by GamesRadar. The video that follows, which we’ve posted for you below, begins with OkiaBetter waking up and hurriedly climbing a neighboring mountain using glitches to scale a sheer face.
They probably do this to warp to a specific area in the world when they jump off the mountain at a given point and kill themselves. After killing themself, OkiaBetter runs into the woods, picking up various items along the way and sliding down hills and cliffs using the notebook glitch.
If you’ve never heard of the notebook glitch, users have been utilizing it as a simple way to slide across enormous distances without dying while avoiding fall damage by pulling up the note back while falling.
I won’t go into detail to avoid giving anything away, but another glitch Okita utilizes is to put sticks at specific locations to clip through walls, eventually succeeding in doing so to the finish line.
They even estimate that if they aced their presentations, they could cut another 10 or 15 seconds off their time. But, these bugs will probably be fixed relatively soon. All that is left to do is wait for the glitch-free speed run.
