Are you looking forward to the video game lineup for 2023? Or are you too preoccupied with your triumphant return to Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to play anything else, In any case, Esquire’s Gamer Zone has been kept busy, and this year has already been a whirlwind.
First and foremost, the remake engine never stops—but we’re not complaining because it resulted in a horrific upgrade to Dead Space. Furthermore, developers continue to create frog-themed games such as Time on Frog Island, Shoulders of Giants, and A Frog’s Tale.
We’re also spending a lot of money on Metroid Prime: Remastered, Fire Emblem: Engage, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and we’re losing a lot of sleep in the process. Nonetheless, we sacrificed our valuable time to inform you about some of our favorite games of the year (so far). Have fun, gamers.Rosenberg, Josh
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
It has arrived. The most expansive, mind-blowing approach to a Zelda game has finally surfaced. Do you have the ability to fly? How about attaching mushrooms to your sword? Nintendo has officially out-weirded itself and taken its usual zaniness to new heights. Tears of the Kingdom have forever altered our perception of Zelda.
Here are some tweet about upcoming Zelda and Ganondorf amiibo for the Holiday 2023 season:

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Hope lives on! Well, sort of. The Jedi Order may be destroyed. However, Cal Kestis and his scrappy space rebels are still waging the good fight. Survivor improves on practically every facet of the first game’s structure, resulting in the laser sword-fighting experience of our dreams. But Cal is going to die. How much longer can EA continue to produce these games?—Nero, Dom

We have also discussed some other relevant stuff. Take a look at it below:
Finally. An eldritch nightmare fishing game that seems like a cross between Animal Crossing and The Lighthouse. Who knew this was everything we’d wished for? Dredge is undoubtedly one of the most disturbing video games in recent memory.
You wouldn’t expect a fishing sim to sink to these depths (pun intended), yet Dredge knows this. The dread is amplified by disrupting a generally tranquil and soothing game experience. I’m not sure I’ll ever swim in the water again.—D.N.
Check out the tweet below for more information about Exploring a Mysterious Archipelago-

Flying! On your cellphone! Remember Skyward Sword’s impressive flight sequences? The creators of the renowned mobile title Alto’s Odyssey (which you should also try) have returned, this time with the help of Netflix Games.
Laya’s Horizon is a stunning and immersive third-person flying experience that feels well at home in Skyward Sword’s bright, ancient universe. It’s as near to flawless as a smartphone game can get. And it’s free to play if you have a Netflix subscription!—D.N.

Resident Evil 4 Remake
The original Resident Evil 4 was already pretty magnificent. How do you remake something that still holds up so well? Refine, refine, refine. Capcom cleaned up the experience of Resident Evil 4 and delivered an all-timer in the horror genre with this remake.
The controls are tighter, traversal is loose, and the whole experience feels modern. At last! Leon Kennedy, current gen!—D.N. See the tweet that is related to the Resident Evil 3 Remake given below-

Tchia
We didn’t want to build such a Zelda-centric list. But 2023 has somehow become a year of Zelda homage (and sequels). Tchia openly displays its Breath of the Wild influence. You are free to go wherever you want.
Climb whatever you want. Glide over the sky. And… transform into rodents? This game, set in the beautiful country of New Caledonia, is an expression of happiness. Whether you’re a Zelda fan or not, it’s one of the most incredibly immersive experiences you can have on a game device in 2023.—D.N.

Dead Space
Baby remakes and remasters! They are currently the hottest craze in gaming. If you want to see your favorite video games from the 2000s restored in stunning 4k resolution, go no further than EA’s brutal space thriller. This isn’t simply one of those remakes where the game was given a facelift–this return to the USG Kellion has been completely rebuilt. It sure looks good. (And disgusting.)—D.N.

Since the franchise’s inception in the early 1990s, Fire Emblem games have provided some of the best tactical role-playing experiences. The most recent entry, Three Houses, may be the game I’ve spent the most time with since rearing small Chao in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle as a child.
Engage is an enjoyable strategy game that brings back old battle mechanics and endearing methods to establish support with your fellow fighters. For those willing to spend a few more hours browsing upgrade options than I did, there’s also a “maddening” setting.—J.R.

Hi-Fi Rush
What if Baby Driver was made into a video game? And what if the video game was designed to look like a Scott Pilgrim comic book? Hi-Fi Rush ticks so many nostalgic boxes that I want to grow out my emo bangs and reload my iPod Nano.
It’s a beat-em-up-meets-rhythm game in the best possible way, and it’s challenging to fathom reaching the end of 2023 without this one on the top of my final rounds of the year list.—D.N.
Here’s a tweet about it if you’re interested:
The hideout is getting a brand-new arcade machine, and it’s adding TWO NEW GAME MODES to #HiFiRush! (Plus new challenges, rewards, and more!)
They eventually succeeded. After years of rumors and leaks, Nintendo has finally released Prime, a magnificent homage to the famous 3D shooter/platformer from the GameCube era. And. It’s fantastic.
Stepping back into Samus’ shining boots, the Switch now has a 3D Metroid title to complement its outstanding 2D side scroller, Metroid Dread, released in 2021. Let’s hope they keep releasing Metroid games–at this rate, we might see Metroid Prime 4 before the Switch dies.—D.N.
Look at the tweet. Some of the many improvements made for Metroid Prime Remastered are listed below-
So you play as a Frog in the Shoulders of Giants. Who sits on a robot? The robot wields a massive sword. The frog also carries a laser gun. The perspective transforms from an over-the-shoulder shooter to a large, wide-open hack and slasher when transitioning from the frog to the robot.
When you first start playing this game, you marvel at how this arrangement hasn’t happened. It’s one of those fresh ideas that simultaneously feels clever and easy. My only criticism? I can’t choose between the frog and the robot because they’re both excellent buddies.—D.N.

Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe
Every year, a new (or, in this case, old) Kirby game should be released. It’s similar to that line from Twin Peaks. “Every day, once a day, give yourself a present.” Kirby is a gift to humanity; we could all use a little Kirby in our lives.
This game debuted on the Nintendo Wii, so it’s about time it received a second chance. And it fits just in on the Switch. That reminds me: I need to play Kirby and the Forgotten Land more. That may be my present for today.—D.N.

Blanc
Some games can take weeks, if not months, to complete. Blanc takes only a few hours and looks fantastic. The hand-drawn indie cooperative adventure about a bit of fawn and a wolf pup trying to find their way through the forest is simple, beautiful, and unlike anything else you’ve seen in video games.
While Blanc isn’t the most difficult, the adventure is well worth the short time it takes to complete—especially if you have a friend to play along with you.—J.R.
Pizza Tower
Finally, we’ve reached a tipping point: developers are creating video games based on Wario Land. NOT MARSHALL. Wario.
That’s correct. Pizza Tower is a creepy and high-voltage tribute to classic Wario titles (especially those from the Game Boy Advance period), and it feels like a welcome comeback—I have one suggestion: more garlic. D.N.

Why has it taken me so long to return to Age of Empires? For one thing, I don’t have an actual PC setup, and installing Steam on my work laptop always felt suspicious. But, and you can crucify me for this, I prefer consoles. The only way I want to play video games is to sit on my couch and watch TV.
Even if gathering resources, let alone planning a siege, is a thousand times more difficult without a mouse and keyboard, this is what I desire. This release and the upcoming platform release of Age of Empires IV later this year are intended for me and the armies of console gamers I stand with.—Kevin Guillory.

Sea of Stars
Chrono Trigger made a big impression when it first came out in 1995. We’re still seeing why over 30 years later. Sea of Stars is a sincere parody of the Square JRPG that, like many others in the genre, wears its influences on its sleeve. The difference here is that Sea of Stars is freaking gorgeous. The 2D pixel art is incredibly stunning, resulting in some of the most incredible pictures we’ve seen in years.—D.N.
Season: A Letter to the Future
Scavenger Studio’s indie title is a heartbreaking and poignant tale of a world going to an end, portrayed through the eyes and camera lens of a young woman on her bicycle. Its art style is similar to that of a watercolor painting and Into the Spider-Verse, with a nod to The Last of Us’ emphasis on the majesty of a natural world recovering the Earth. We’ll be there in force.—D.N.
Horizon Call of the Mountain
Horizon Call of the Mountain must be treated as if it were a screening of an Avatar film. You will not get the most extraordinary tale! After 10 minutes, you might dislike the main character! But man, it’s going to look good.
So wonderful that you may drool and exclaim Wow over and over like Owen Wilson in need of a battery change. Yes, the highly anticipated PlayStation VR2 delivered a winner on launch day. Can we please have more games? Please?Bobby Langmann.

Although it was initially met with some scorn from critics and players, Forspoken deserves some credit for how ambitious Square Enix’s developers were with the vastness and grandeur of this world.
Because everything in mainstream culture is IP-driven, we rarely see wholly new franchises. Even when we do, they are often disregarded because they do not include Luke Skywalker or Tony Stark. It’s not a perfect game, but I admire Forspoken’s qualities. But the combat…it’s a lot of fun.—D.N.
Check out the tweets about Forspoken that are shown below:
Just finished the dlc and God this was so worth staying up at night I just had to finished it I new I wouldn’t be able to sleep with out finishing it the twist in the end??!!?!! I really hope they get a second game thank u @Forspoken amazing absolutely amazing #Forspokenpic.twitter.com/84xVLoO960
