Meta has announced that the return of its virtual reality (VR) showcase, the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase, will take place on June 1. The Meta Quest will feature an opening pre-show, an in-game developer panel, and the unveiling of new games.
Despite VR’s relatively small market share, the video game industry as a whole is heavily invested in the technology. While headset popularity can be fickle, there’s no denying that the Meta Quest 2 is a top contender. Owners of Meta Quest 2 would do well to put the showcase’s date in their diaries.
Twitch, Facebook, YouTube, and Meta Horizon Worlds will all be streaming the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase on June 1 at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET. This showcase, hosted by Oculus Studios executive producer Ruth Bram, is being called the “biggest celebration of the depth and breadth of content across the Meta Quest platform yet,” and it will feature 40 minutes of programming.
During the main event, developers will reveal many things about their upcoming virtual reality games, as well as show off gameplay from upcoming titles, discuss major updates to existing games, and more.
At 9:45 am PT/12:45 pm ET, the pre-show will begin before the main event. It will feature announcements and trailers for future games before the official Showcase, and then a developer roundtable will discuss some of these titles after the event has concluded. Naturally, details about the games, attendees, and other aspects of the Showcase will remain secret until that time.
There are a lot of fun things to do this summer, including the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase. It’s the main VR-centric event, but on June 8 there’ll be Summer Game Fest. On June 11, we’ll see the Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct. Many gamers anticipate a PlayStation demonstration from Sony, and a large Direct demonstration from Nintendo, to occur in the near future.
It’s unclear if they will occur in the already jam-packed month of June or at the tail end of May. However, an announcement regarding their potential occurrence is expected in the near future.
On Monday, June 1 at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET, Meta Quest will have its gaming showcase.
