You might be confused as to why Dead Island 2, a first-person game, allows you to change your outfit; yet, this option is there for you to use, even though it can be a little difficult to track down.
It’s possible that you’ll catch a glimpse of your selected character in a cutscene or two, but for the most part, other players will be the ones to view them.
When you play online co-op with other people, everyone will be able to view your character as well as the costume they are wearing at any given time. If you’ve purchased one of the deluxe editions of the game, switching between different costumes is a great opportunity to brag to your friends that you have it.

How to Switch Clothes in Dead Island 2?
Head into the player menu and choose ‘Slayer’ from the list of options to alter your attire in Dead Island 2. Here you’ll be able to customize the look of your player character. If you are given a new set of clothes to wear, at least you can switch things up a bit.

There are currently zero confirmed bonus outfits and zero in the game at launch. These features are exclusive to those who purchase the game’s Gold, Deluxe, or HELL-A editions. The names of these two further ensembles are:
- Silver Star Jacob
- Rodeo Sunset Outfit
- The Devil’s Horseshoes weapon
- Cyber Slayer Amy
- Neurunner Outfit
- Casimir & Julienne’s weapons

Those of us who have invested in the game’s Gold, Deluxe, or HELL-A editions will find this to be extremely disheartening. The DLC outfits won’t be available until the summer of 2023, so everyone will just have to wait. It’s a shame they weren’t implemented earlier, but I imagine most players will have quit by summer.
That concludes the topic of clothing in Dead Island 2 and how to alter your character’s appearance. Once a release date for the two character packs has been announced by the developer or publisher, we will update this page accordingly.
