Nvidia’s recent driver update includes files named ‘csgo2.exe‘ and ‘cs2.exe,’ the latest in a succession of signs suggesting Counter-Strike 2 is on the road.
Since then, rumors have circulated that Valve will release the beta for Counter-Strike 2 this month.
Reporter Richard Lewis claims that several top-tier Counter-Strike gamers have played the upcoming Source 2 shooter and that it would “very probably” be called Counter-Strike 2.
Reports suggest that the sequel will also improve upon the series’ matchmaking, aesthetics, and optimization, and will introduce the game on more responsive 128-tick servers.
Lewis has also stated that some of CS: problems GO’s have not been fixed because Counter-Strike 2 has been in development for a long time.
Lewis said–
“The big priority is getting this out and then polishing it, fixing any bugs and bringing it up to the level people expect from CS.”
Despite growing speculation, Valve has remained silent on the rumored sequel to Counter-Strike. A Denzel Curry collaboration was included in CS: GO in an unexpected update last month.
And in other gaming-related news, you can get Battlefield 2042 from Steam for free all this week.
Due to its recent free availability (until March 16), the shooter is seeing a renaissance in popularity following a shaky debut in 2021.
