As Assassin’s Creed Mirage “goes gold,” the latest instalment in the long-running game is one week closer to its intended release date, as Ubisoft moves it up a week. Here’s all we know about the new game, including specifics on the location and primary characters.
Ubisoft’s next entry into the popular franchise will be AC Mirage. Originally intended as an expansion for the already-released Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, this content was quickly pushed to a separate game.
Mirage is on track to become a fan favourite as the developers reveal additional details. Ubisoft has stated that the game would pay homage to the original classic instalments in the franchise.
So, here’s all we know about Assassin’s Creed Mirage, including its release date, plot details, setting, and gameplay video.
Does Assassin’s Creed Mirage Have a Release Date?
Ubisoft had previously indicated an October 12 release date during a PlayStation Showcase. However, Mirage will be released one week earlier on October 5, 2023. The title became available on August 14, causing the firm to announce the revised release date in the following tweet:

Mirage’s revised release date also adds some breathing room to what is already shaping into a jam-packed October. Detective Pikachu Returns, Alan Wake 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Forza Motorsport, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder will also be released that month. The game will be available for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
All Setting and Plot Details We Know So Far
The settings and historical periods of Assassin’s Creed games are among the best parts. They transport you to a beautiful corner of the world in a period when most people have only seen relics. It then allows you to explore and live the lives of these lethal killers in that magnificent place.
Mirage will take place in Baghdad between 870 and 860 BCE, following the events of the Anarchy of Samarra. Baghdad would be divided into four districts, according to the developers. Other than the city, Alamut, the Hidden Ones’ stronghold headquarters, will be the only setting in the game.

The story will revolve around a young Assassin named Basim Ibn Ishaq, who many players would recognize from Valhalla. Mirage will reportedly take control of the character in his youth. His voyage will begin with him as a thief before the Hidden Ones discovers and brings him in.
The latest rumours for the upcoming game also hint that the Prince of Persia would inspire the story. The setting should provide some fantastic stealth options as well as some breathtaking views.
Assassins Creed Mirage Gameplay Information
In terms of gameplay, it’s expected to be a more intimate experience than the previous Assassin’s Creed titles’ large open-world games. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is said to be a stealth-based game rather than an exploration-heavy one. It will allegedly have a new and better detecting system to enhance stealth encounters and approaches.
Ubisoft has also stated that some iconic parkour moves, such as the corner swing, will return. Furthermore, the pace of freerunning is expected to be faster than in previous games.
While the most recent iterations have significantly leaned into the RPG genre, this new game is said to return to the franchise’s roots and the more conventional AC experience that fans have come to enjoy over the years.

In particular, the game will be significantly influenced by the first Assassin’s Creed game in that players would go back and forth from the Alamut stronghold to accomplish Assassination missions as needed.
Ubisoft has also stated that Assassination contracts will be returning. The function will be recognizable to fans of early editions such as AC II and Brotherhood. Enemies are also getting a significant makeover, with better AI that will make gaming more difficult than in previous games.
Regarding DLC and post-launch upgrades, Creative Director Stéphane Boudon has stated that no plans for AC Mirage DLC are presently in the works.

Does Assassin’s Creed Mirage Have a Trailer?
This trailer will delight fans of the old Assassin’s Creed games. It briefly overviews Basim Ibn Ishaq’s route to being sworn into the Order. Throughout the teaser, a monologue voice-over recounts the same oath that has appeared throughout the series.
The trailer also includes the moment Basim is officially sworn into the Hidden One’s order, another reference to the franchise’s heritage. He can be seen at the moment slicing off his ring finger, as all Assassins must do.
Then, during the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, fans first looked at Mirage’s gameplay and more information about Basim and the environment he finds himself in. You may read about it here:
The Assassin’s Creed Mirage story trailer and gameplay walkthrough were shown at the 2023 Ubisoft Forward Showcase. The trailer centred on Basim in 9th-century Baghdad. The film depicted Basim’s scout bird, Enkidu, and armaments such as blow darts and smoke bombs.
In June, Ubisoft discussed how it would return to its roots in AC Mirage by going to the Middle East and implementing similar game mechanics as the original titles. This will include classical movement mechanics, assassination animations, and the return of Social Stealth, the stealth mechanism utilized in the game that affects how residents and guards react to player activities.
