The release date of August 25, 2023, for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon has been confirmed by the developers. A new trailer and an in-depth post on the PlayStation Blog with more information on the game’s gameplay was released alongside the announcement.
While Armored Core 6 continues the series’ mission-based gameplay and emphasis on mech customization introduced in previous entries, the developers have been clear that this is not Soulslike.

The Assault Boost grants you the power to rapidly close the distance and transition between ranged and melee combat. Now that foes have a stagger gauge, it’s important to keep hitting them with powerful attacks until the gauge is broken, leaving them defenseless for a short period of time. One thing that will be familiar to Soulslike fans is the massive, challenging bosses.
Game director Masaru Yamamura tells the PS Blog that you’ll be facing foes like-
“Huge combat helicopters, heavily armored mobile turrets, and unmanned heavy demolition machinery that’s programmed to indiscriminately crush intruders. Armored Core 6 will offer a number of explosive battle experiences that challenge players to fight against the odds and overcome these ginormous, more abnormal mechs.”
The developers have also announced the reintroduction of Arena mode, where players can battle against a variety of “specially customized mechs.” Armored Core 6 has a bit more replay potential than its predecessors thanks to its numerous endings.
