The long-awaited sequel to 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was released earlier this year, shattering many records and becoming one of the most profitable animated films ever. The film was first released a few months ago, on June 2nd, 2023, and had a perfect opening.
Spider-Man: Across the Universe, The Spider-Verse was a genuine fan service, as it expanded the multiverse by welcoming in practically all Spider-Man versions, from live-action films and video games to other films. The film has now surpassed the $650 million mark at the global box office, cementing its position as one of history’s most successful animated films.
Given that the film has been out in theatres for nearly two months, many fans are impatiently awaiting its release on digital platforms. The film is finally available for streaming, but the question remains about where it may be viewed at home and whether it is also available in physical form.
Where To Watch Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is now available to rent on numerous digital platforms beginning August 8th. Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is available for $19.99 on Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Google Play, Microsoft, YouTube, and Vudu.
Acquiring a physical copy of the film in 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD formats will take some time, as it is expected to be released digitally on September 5th, 2023. The wait, however, will be worthwhile because the physical edition will include the main picture and an additional 90 minutes of content, such as bonus features, deleted scenes, filmmaker commentary, and more.

Furthermore, the film is expected to be released on Netflix in the following months, maybe as early as October. This forecast is based on Sony’s agreement with Netflix to bring all its films to the platform during the Pay 1 period. This implies that Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse will be available exclusively on Netflix until the Pay 1 term ends, which usually lasts roughly nine months.
What Is Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse About
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is a direct sequel to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, which delves deeper into the spider world. The film reunites the original Spider-Man cast while also introducing newer Spider-Men versions.
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse follows Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales as they enter the Spider-Society more than a year after the first film’s events. This society comprises multiple Spider-Men and is commanded by Spider-Man 2099, Miguel O’Hara, and is entrusted with eradicating any attempts or threats to the multiverse.

The film follows The Spot, a Spider-Man version who was originally a scientist working on Kingpin’s collider. Dr Jonathan became stuck while working on the collider and developed mysterious skills that allowed him to open interdimensional portals and smaller-scale gateways.
Dr Jonathan assumed his new persona as The Spot with the express intention of exacting revenge on Miles Morales by murdering his father, as the scientist blamed Miles for his death.

However, Miguel O’Hara, better known as Spider-Man 2099, prevents Miles from saving his father because he sees it as a canonical event that every Spider-Man must go through to lose their loved ones, and disrupting the event will disrupt the multiverse.
Miles eventually escapes the Spider-Society but ends up in a different dimension where Spider-Man does not exist and his uncle Aaron is still alive while his father is dead. The film ends on a cliffhanger, with Miles confronted by a criminal version of himself, Prowler.
